Bogue Chitto puts away LCHS girls

MONTICELLO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats handed the LawrenceCounty Lady Cougars a 5-3 loss Thursday night in fastpitch softballaction.
Bogue Chitto improved to 3-1 on the season and Lawrence Countyremains winless in 5 outings. The ‘Cats host the Lincoln CountyFastpitch Softball Tournament Saturday including Loyd Star, WestLincoln and Enterprise.
“We did not play our best ball tonight,” said Bogue Chitto girlshead coach Scott Leggett. “We still got to make some adjustments.But a win is a win,”
Bradi Davis directed the ‘Cats with a double and a single. AdrienneWallace and Darcy Miller ripped a triple apiece.
Starter Rheagan Welch worked the first 4 innings with 4 strikeoutsand 2 walks. Reliever Toy Smith had no strikeouts and 4walks.
“We had improvement on offense and defense,” said Lawrence Countycoach Courtney Shivers.
Jessi Alexander doubled and singled twice for the Cougars. ShelbyMitchell and Alli Harris doubled apiece. Georgia Walker singledtwice.
Alexander absorbed the loss, fanning 5 and walking 2.
Both teams committed 2 errors apiece.
Junior varsity action
Bogue Chitto shut out Lawrence County 3-0.
Mattie Avants (7Ks, 7Bbs) posted the win. Kristen Boyd (7Ks, 1BB)took the loss.
Leading the ‘Cats with a pair of singles was Kaylie Crosby. LaurenWallace and MarShonikique Blackwell singled.
