Truck stop cash taken in Wed. robbery

Sheriff’s Department officials are working to locate, identifyand arrest a masked man who held up the Bogue Chitto Truck Stopearly Wednesday morning.
Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing said around 3:20 a.m.Wednesday, a black male with a mask on entered the truck stop justoff Interstate 55 Exit 30, displayed a handgun, and demanded anundisclosed amount of money from the cash register.
“Then he ran out the door in an unknown direction,” Rushingsaid.
Rushing said it is unclear if the man was solely on foot or if hefled to a vehicle, but that witnesses did not see a getawaycar.
“It’s kind of an open area, he could have run out the back and gonesomewhere,” he said.
Meanwhile, Rushing said the sheriff’s department doesn’t usuallysee armed robberies in businesses in the county.
“This is the first one we’ve had like this in a long time,county-wise,” he said.
So far the only description of the suspect is a black male inall-dark clothing, Rushing said.
“We’re working really hard to apprehend the subject that did it,but any help would be greatly appreciated,” he said. “We don’t havea whole lot to go on at this point.”
