Wesson slugs Enterprise

Gage Wilson and Matt Smith slugged home runs and Caleb Broomepitched a 7-hitter in directing the Region 6-2A-leading WessonCobras to a 12-3 victory over the host Enterprise Yellow JacketsTuesday night. Broome struck out seven batters and walkedfive.
Enterprise (7-13, 4-6) resumes play Friday at Wesson (15-7, 9-1).The region twinbill begins at 5 p.m. State playoffs start April30.
“Wesson is probably the most complete team I’ve seen this year,”said Enterprise coach Cass Brister. “They have good pitching andthey hit the ball better than anybody I’ve seen. They are a goodballclub.”
Brister’s Jackets fell behind 10-0 before scoring three,sixth-inning runs. Third baseman Garrett Greer homered for theJackets, giving him seven homers on the season.
Senior right-hander Jarrett Todd went three innings and took theloss. He gave up 8 runs on six hits, walked three and fannedone.
Sophomore Blake Fugler (7 K, 5 BB) replaced Todd in the fourth. Hegave up four runs and three hits.
Wilson hit a 2-run homer in the seventh. Smith hit a solo homer.Hunter Hood, Brandon Allen, Smith and Broome hit doubles.
Catcher Travis Leggett hit two doubles for the Jackets.
