Panthers overpower Forest Hill Patriots

The host Brookhaven Panthers handed the Forest Hill Patriots an18-2 whipping in Region 5-5A baseball action Friday night on rainyMoyer Field. It was Senior Night for the Panthers.

With the win, Brookhaven pushed its season record to 17-9 overalland 9-3 in the region. Forest Hill is 3-21 on the season.

“It was a good night for us,” said Brookhaven head coach RandySpring. “We hit the ball and took care of business. Our seniorsplayed the whole game and did a good job.”

Posting the win was Scottie Peavey with 1 strikeout, 4 walks andhit 1 batter. Patrick Valentine worked in relief with 1 strikeoutand 1 walk.

Gabe Wilson powered the Panthers with a home run and a single.Brandon Foster tripled twice. Doubling and singling was Valentine.Brice Huckaby and J.B. Perkins each doubled twice. Elliot McKee andPeavey singled.

After the Patriots plated one run in the top of the first, BHSexploded for nine runs. The Panthers added nine more runs in thesecond.

“I’m glad to see the season is over,” said Forest Hill head coachGary Alderman. “We are a young team. This was a learningexperience.”

Absorbing the loss was Denzel Mitchell (1-6) with 1 strikeout, 5walks and 2 hit batters.

Eddie Steele and Larry Cowan hit safely for the Patriots.
