Services for Louella Lyons Bates, of Brookhaven, are 1 p.m.Friday, May 14, at Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Bogue Chitto,with burial in the church cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in chargeof arrangements.

Visitation is Thursday from 1 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home,with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m.

Mrs. Bates, 84, died May 9, 2010, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center in McComb. She was born in Bogue Chitto onJuly 23, 1925, to Jim Lyons Sr. and Lee Ester Lyons.

She was a graduate of Lincoln County Training School. She wasretired. She was a member of Faith M.B. Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, JamesBates; 15 children; her brother, Alvin Lyons; her sisters, DorisClotel Dillon, Pauline Richardson, Lee Ester Turner, MargaretBlackwell and Margie Logan; and her son-in-law, John ChatmanSr.

Survivors are her sons, Armond Mikell and wife Althea, ofMcComb, Ross Reed Jr. and wife Sharon, of Anniston, Ala., AlbertReed and wife Elaine, David Reed and wife Kathyleen, and HenryReed, all of Brookhaven; her daughters, Margaret Carey and husbandRoy, of Chicago, Ill., and Myra Reed and Lisa Chatman, both ofBrookhaven; her brother, Jim Lyons Jr. and wife Cara, of Elk Grove,Calif.; her sisters, Mary McMorris and husband Melton, of BogueChitto, Maxine McGee and husband Robert, of Chicago, and AudreyJones, of Chicago; her 27 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren;and her five sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews and otherrelatives.
