Mr. and Mrs. Michael Thomas Smith, of Hattiesburg, announce theengagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Brittany JoySmith, to Ashley Randall Read.

He is the son of Randy and Susan Read, of Hattiesburg.

She is the granddaughter of Mary Floyce Britt, of Hattiesburg,and the late Virgil Britt Sr., of Brookhaven, Verla Smith, ofBrookhaven, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith Sr., of Mansura, La.

He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Lighthart, ofCharleston, S.C., and Mavis Read and the late W.K. Read, ofLaurel.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Oak Grove High School and TheUniversity of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg where shereceived a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Sheis employed by Forrest County Schools in Hattiesburg as a firstgrade teacher.

The prospective groom is a graduate of Petal High School and TheUniversity of Southern Mississippi with a BSBA in Economics and aMBA in finance. He is employed by Mississippi Department of Bankingin Jackson.

Wedding vows will be exchanged at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 5,2010, at Canebrake Country Club in Hattiesburg with a receptionfollowing the ceremony.

After a honeymoon in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, the couple willreside in Hattiesburg.
