Nationals elude Americans in DYB 11s Subdistrict Six

GALLMAN – In a showdown of Lincoln County Dixie Youth BaseballMajor 11s All-Star teams, the Nationals edged the Americans 15-11Tuesday night in the North Subdistrict Six Tournament.
As the clock pushed past 11 p.m., the Lincoln County Americans andNationals gathered on the pitcher’s mound as one to congratulateeach other for a hard fought game while both coaches offered wordsof encouragement to both squads. Fans from each team applaudedtheir efforts.
Fisher Warren picked up the victory for the Nationals in a 3-inningrelief effort. Madison Smith struck out eight batters beforeturning the ball over to Warren in the fourth.
Darius Bryant absorbed the loss while striking out sevenbatters.
Reese Reynaud led the Nationals’ 13-hit attack with two singles anda double. Stephen Springfield hit a 2-run, 5th-inning home run.Michael Harvey doubled and singled and Madison Smith singled twice.Lakin Wallace and Nathan West also had doubles. Adding support withsingles were Fisher Warren, Konner Allen and Bradyn Brister.
LC National Manager Beck Warren said, “This was a good night forBrookhaven and Lincoln County. Our kids from both teams representedthemselves and Lincoln County the way that everyone should try todo.
At the end of the night all our players stood together totallyexhausted but as a group proud to represent our baseball program inBrookhaven and Lincoln County. Tonight, both teams showed us theway it should be done.”
For the Americans, Sam Seals, Chase Owens, Brantley Brister andBranson Ainsworth all singled.
The Americans meet Copiah tonight at 6:30 in an elimination game.The winner faces the Nationals at 6:30 Thursday in the championshipgame.
