Lady Cougars post one win in tourney

Brookhaven Academy captured one win in the East Rankin Academytournament held at Pelahatchie Friday and Saturday.

BA lost to the Hillcrest Cougars 12-1, and was defeated by EastRankin 7-1 in Friday action. The Lady Cougars beat East Rankin 2-1in a rematch, but lost to Jackson Prep 9-3 in Saturday games.

The Lady Cougars will host Simpson County Thursday, Aug. 5, at theHansel King Sportsplex. Junior varsity starts at 5 p.m. follow byvarsity at 6:15.

Hillcrest 12, BA 1

Olivia Lofton absorbed the loss for BA collecting no strikeouts andallowing 9 walks. Allie Livingston (1K, 2 BB) pitched in relief.Anna Katelyn Mangold (0K, 0 BB) also pitched in relief.

The Lady Cougars were lead by Meredith Allen, Anna Katelyn Mangoldand Allie Livingston with a single apiece.

East Rankin 7, BA 1

Makenzie Davis absorbed the loss for the Lady Cougars providing twostrikeouts and allowing 8 walks. Anna Katelyn Mangold (4K, 5 BB)also pitched in relief.

BA was led with a single each by Terah Winborne, Meredith Allen andMakenzie Davis.

BA 2, East Rankin 1

Anna Katelyn Mangold helped BA pick up their first win of theseason with a strong pitching performance collecting 4 strikeoutsand 4 walks.

Terah Winborne was the leading hitter for the Lady Cougars with adouble and 2 singles; Allie Livingston also contributed with 3singles; Mangold provided 2 singles; and Olivia Lofton hit asingle.

Jackson Prep 9, BA 3

Anna Katelyn Mangold absorbed the loss providing 2 strikeouts and 4walks.

The Lady Cougars was led by Terah Winborne with 2 singles; MeredithAllen, Makenzie Davis and Olivia Lofton each got a singleapiece.
