Mary Kathleen ‘Cathy’ Childress Wilson

Mary Kathleen “Cathy” Childress Wilson, 55, of Memphis, Tenn.,who was known as “Nana” to her grandchildren, passed away Aug. 12,2010. Cathy was born on Feb. 13, 1955, in Brookhaven. She was a1971 graduate of Brookhaven High School. On Oct. 19, 1974, Cathywas married to her loving husband, Larry Wilson. Larry and Cathyhad three children, Chad, Brooks, and Charity.

Throughout her life, she lived in Monticello, Brookhaven,Lawrenceville, Ga., and Memphis. Cathy was an accomplished artist,and home schooled all three of her children through their middleand high school years. Cathy also spent many years caring for hersick mother.

In recent years, Cathy enjoyed spending time with her fivegrandchildren, traveling with Larry, her artwork, connecting withfriends and family on Facebook and keeping up with her flowers andher pets. Cathy was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and attended theRiverdale congregation.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mamie Grace GriffinChildress. Grace was known as Nonnie to her grandchildren. Cathy issurvived by her husband, Larry, of Memphis; her sons, Chad Wilson,of Brandon, and Brooks Wilson, of Memphis; her daughter, CharityWilson Walker, of Memphis; her grandsons, Griffin Drake Wilson, ofBrookhaven, Mason Walker, of Memphis, and Dawson Walker, ofMemphis; her granddaughters, Ryleigh Cook, of Brandon, and ChesneyAllen, of Brookhaven; and her brother, Bob Childress, of ColoradoSprings, Colo.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Aug. 16, at 1 p.m. atthe Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 4306 Clarke Road, Memphis,TN 38141.
