Punt return sinks West Lincoln

DURANT – A punt return by the Williams-Sullivan Yellow Jacketsin the third quarter denied the West Lincoln Bears their chance towin two straight season openers, with a 6-0 loss Fridaynight.
“We pitched a shutout defensively,” said West Lincoln head coachChris Calcote. “But we have got to do a better job executing onoffense.”
Alston Bozeman led the Bears with 8 carries for 35 yards. DeonMoore also contributed 9 carries for 22 yards. Garrett Rushingprovided 3 carries for 14-yards.
Defensively, Rushing led the way with 18 tackles. Jonathan Smithcollected 9 tackles and Bozeman picked up 8 tackles. Blake Carverand Jonathan Smith recovered a fumble apiece.
Last year the Bears beat the Jackets 12-6 in overtime at WestLincoln. The Bears have an open date this week before playingEnterprise.
