Bogue Chitto Cats scratch Enterprise

BOGUE CHITTO – Sophomore James Blackwell scored two touchdownsas Bogue Chitto held off their county rivals the EnterpriseFighting Yellow Jackets 28-7 Friday night on Troy Smith Field. TheBobcats rolled up 426 yards on offense.
“This game was a tough and physical battle,” said Bogue Chitto headcoach Gareth Sartin. “Our defense came up big tonight. Our backsdid a good job running the ball on offense.”
The first quarter started off as a seesaw battle, with both teamstrying to establish their offensive schemes.
BC Junior Colton McClendon was the first to break up a scorelesstie in the first quarter by scoring on a 3-yard run with 3:04remaining. Garrett Wallace went four-for-four on extra points forthe night for Bogue Chitto (2-0).
Enterprise (0-1) answered back with a halfback pass from GarrettGreer to Brad Prather for a 74-yard touchdown with 28 seconds left.Lance Spring was successful on the extra point and it was7-7.
The Bobcats’ defense stepped up their game after that touchdown anddid not allow the Jackets to score the rest of the game.
The offense of Bogue Chitto managed to score two more touchdowns inthe second quarter. Blackwell scored on a 6-yard run with 10:57left. Chris Hall, last week DAILY LEADER Offensive Player of theWeek, scored on a 73-yard run with 7:55 remaining. The Bobcats led21-7 over the Jackets at halftime.
“This was a tough loss,” said Enterprise head coach Josh Garrett.”Our kids played hard and done the things that were asked from thecoaches. I will do a better job in getting them ready toplay.”
During the halftime festivities, Bogue Chitto announced the membersof the Lady Cats 2010 Fastpitch Softball State 1A Championshipteam. In other activities, the Enterprise 2A State ChampionshipDance team preformed their dance routine in front of thecrowd.
In the second half, both teams played hard in the tough andphysical battle.
Blackwell scored on a 4-yard run for the only points allowed in thesecond half with 2:50 remaining in the third quarter.
“Enterprise played a very good game,” added Sartin. “We just madetoo many mistakes and penalties that killed our drives during thegame.”
Defensively, Kevin Brothern led the Bobcats with 10 tackles. LenellBryant, Tevin Tobias and Brandon Wells also contributed 7 tacklesapiece.
Michael Martin and McClendon intercepted a pass for BogueChitto.
Enterprise was led defensively by Matt King with 8 tackles. Pratherprovided 7 tackles. Jedd Moak, Garrett Greer, Sam Furr and CodyWhite also collected 6 tackles apiece.
Thomas Allen, Jedd Moak and Prather recovered a fumble forEnterprise.
Hall led the Bobcats with 148 yards rushing.
“Bogue Chitto has a good team,” added Garrett. “Our future looksbright for Enterprise. We will continue to get better as ateam.”
The Bobcats will host the Wesson Cobras in a non-district matchupon Troy Smith Field. Enterprise will entertain West Lincoln for acounty rivalry game on Harry Cole Field. Kickoff is set for 7:30p.m.
