James D. ‘Joe’ Cain

James D. “Joe” Cain, 84, of the Homestead community in PikeCounty, passed away Sept. 12, 2010, at his residence.

Visitation was Tuesday from 9 until 10:45 a.m. at Jones FamilyFuneral Services in McComb. Graveside services were Tuesday at 11a.m. at the Pike Memorial Cemetery in McComb. Dr. David Millicanofficiated. Military honors followed the services.

Mr. Cain was born March 4, 1926, in Kentwood, La. He was the son ofthe late David and Susie Easley Cain.

He was a retired truck driver for Trans-Co Gas Pipeline and was ofthe Baptist faith. He served in the United States Army during WorldWar II. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and willbe sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary NellWoodard; and one brother-in-law, Pat Dean.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Martha F. Cain, ofHomestead; his son, Scott Cain and wife, Carolyn, of Brookhaven;his daughter, Tammy L. Cain, of Homestead; his sister, Eula Lee”Tullie” Dean, of Kentwood; three grandchildren, Peyton Cain, JasonMercier and Alissa Brumfield and husband, Dwayne; hisbrother-in-law, Virgil Woodard; and numerous nieces andnephews.

Pallbearers were Michael Dean, Matthew Dean, Patrick Dean, SamuelWoodard, Brandon Lester and James Cutrer.

The family would like to thank the people at Hospice Compassus andDr. David Millican for their sincere compassion during thisdifficult time.
