BA girls lose pair

Brookhaven Academy’s Lady Cougars lost a pair of close roadgames in fastpitch softball action, falling to Central Hinds 8-6and Jackson Academy 11-10.
BA (5-15), coached by Ricky Allen, resumes play Saturday, making upa game with Columbia Academy. A junior varsity game begins at 10a.m., followed by the varsity at 11:15 and another JV game at 1p.m.

Pitcher Anna Katelyn Mangold struck out two batters and walked ninein a losing cause as Central Hinds held off a BA comeback.
At the plate, BA was led by Terah Winborne, Natalie Keene and AnnaSmith with two hits apiece. Makenzie Davis, Anna Grace Cupit andAllie Livingston singled as BA’s District 4-AA record slipped to2-5.
Jackson 11, BA 10
The Cougars rallied for five runs their final turn at bat and felljust short of catching the JA Lady Raiders.
Mangold (4-8) fanned three batters and walked 10 in thesetback.
Winborne, Meredith Allen and Allie Livingston led BA with two hitsapiece. Davis, Mangold and Keene singled.
JA led 8-2 after two innings.
