North Pike roars past Lawrence Co. Lady Cougars

SUMMIT – The North Pike Lady Jaguars walloped the LawrenceCounty Lady Cougars 14-7 in Class 4A slowpitch softballaction.
The Cougars resumes play Thursday, hosting the South Pike LadyEagles. Game time for the JV is at 5 p.m. followed by varsity at 6.The Jags (10-3, 4-0) will host a tournament Saturday, facingColumbia at 10 a.m., BC at 12:30 and Brookhaven at 4:15 p.m.

Charneissa Gordon pitched the win for North Pike. Kristen Byrdabsorbed the loss for Lawrence County.
Gordon led the Jags’ offense with a home run and a double. AlanaHopkins and Marissa Jenkins contributed a home run and a singleapiece. Lauren Wells provided a double and two singles. RachelKelly doubled and singled. Breanna McKenzie belted a double. ShelbyAbdul-Hadi singled.
Daphne Armstrong and Tianna Dampeer were the leading batters forthe Cougars with a home run apiece. Kristen Sauls and Jaz Thomasprovided two singles apiece. Hitting safely were Kristen Byrd, MaryMargaret and Kayla Byrd.
In JV action, North Pike slipped by Lawrence County 5-2. DanarayeParks was the winning pitcher for the Jags.
Parks led the team with a double and a single. Allie Summers hadtwo singles. Jordan Fitzgerald hit a double. Hitting safely wereSarah Brock and Baylee Bryant.
