Authorities investigating bank robbery

WESSON – Authorities are looking for a man who allegedly robbedTrustmark Bank on Spring Street in Wesson Thursday morning.

Wesson Police Chief Chad O’Quinn said the robbery occurred at 11:23a.m. Thursday when a male, described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall andweighing 140 pounds, entered the bank brandishing a semi-automaticpistol. The male was wearing a light-colored shirt, blue jeans,gloves, and a motorcycle helmet with a black shield pulled down,covering his face, said O’Quinn.

Upon entering the bank, the suspect allegedly displayed a weaponand demanded money, said O’Quinn. After leaving the bank with anundetermined amount of money, the chief said the suspect fled thearea on a bicycle.

According to witnesses, the suspect was caucasian, although O’Quinncould not confirm that Friday morning.

O’Quinn said officials with the Wesson Police Department, CopiahCounty Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Bureau ofInvestigation are investigating. Authorities are also looking for awhite van with gold trim at the bottom of it that was seen in thearea at the time of the robbery.

“If anyone has any information about the van with gold stripes,we’d like to know about it and who was driving it,” said O’Quinn,although he added that the van may or may not be connected to theTrustmark robbery.
