Enterprise gets offensive at Mt. Hermon

MT. HERMON, La. – Senior Thomas Allen rushed six times for 122yards and scored two touchdowns as Enterprise stung the Mt. Hermon,La Yellow Jackets 49-20 Friday Night. The Lincoln County-basedJackets swarmed 411 total yards on offense.

“Glad to get the win,” said Enterprise head coach Josh Garrett.”Our guys came out a little slow but they picked it up as the gameprogressed.”

The Fighting Yellow Jackets (2-3) came out of the gates early,scoring on their first two possessions of the game.

Allen was the first to strike for Enterprise, when he sprinted57-yards for the touchdown with 11:37 remaining. Lance Springs wentone-for-two on the extra points for the night.

Senior tailback Garrett Greer helped Enterprise strike again as herushed 64-yards to paydirt with 9:25 remaining in the firstquarter.

Mt. Hermon (1-3) quickly answered back with two touchdowns of theirown after being down 14-0. Jalen Briggs caught a 33-yard touchdownpass from quarterback Kyle Jarrell with 8:32 remaining. The MHJackets failed to convert on two of their two point conversionattempts in the first half.

Freshmen Joe Walls scored the second touchdown for Mt. Hermon, whenhe punched it in for a 1-yard run with 3:46 remaining. Cutting thescore to 13-12.

The Lincoln County-based Jackets’ defense stepped up their gameafter that touchdown and did not allow Mt. Hermon to score the restof the first half.

The offense of Enterprise managed to score four more touchdownsbefore halftime. Jedd Moak scored on a 7-yard run to end the firstquarter.

In the second quarter, Brad Prather scored on a 16-yard run with7:45 left. Quarterback Cody White connected with Dakota White for2-points.

Allen scored his second touchdown for the night when he rushed54-yards to score with 5:25 remaining. Prather ran in the 2-pointconversion.

Enterprise put an end to the explosive first half with 11 secondsremaining. Prather caught a pass from Greer, and sprinted 84-yardsto paydirt. Cody White rushed in the 2-point conversion. EHS led43-12 at halftime.

In the second half, Enterprise managed to get their younger playersinvolved to gain some much-needed experience.

“It was great to get our younger players some playing time,”continued Garrett. “Now we must regroup and get ready for Puckettnext week.”

Mt. Hermon did not give up. They managed to get a score in thethird quarter when Walls plunged in for a 1-yard touchdown with7:07 remaining. Kyle Jarrell completed a pass to wide receiverShane Jarrell for the 2-point conversion.

In the fourth quarter, the young players of Enterprise managed toget a touchdown to reward them for the hard work. Chance Owensscored on a 1-yard plunge with 8 seconds remaining.

“We did not show up to play in the first half,” said Mt. Hermonhead coach Gwynn Holmes. “Enterprise outplayed us on both sides ofthe ball.”

Defensively, the Fighting Jackets held Mt. Hermon to 190-yards oftotal offense. Maverick Smith and Moak led the attack with seventackles and one sack apiece. Ethan Whittington and Tim Martinprovided six stops apiece. Allen and Greer intercepted apass.

Greer provided help for the Enterprise offensive attack with 104yards rushing on 8 carries. He threw one pass for 84 yards. Pratherled the receivers with one catch for 84 yards.

Enterprise returns home this Friday to hosted the Puckett Wolvesfor a their first Region 6-2A contest. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
