Accident claims one, injures six

A car accident involving three vehicles killed one man andinjured six others early Friday, authorities said.

Danny Todd Boyte, 47, of 1071 Laura Lane, Summit, was the driver ofa 1989 Toyota Corolla that collided with a 2004 Acura MDX as he wasdriving southbound in the northbound lane around 3:02 a.m., twomiles south of Exit 40, said Staff Sgt. Rusty Boyd of theMississippi Highway Patrol.

Boyd said Boyte was not wearing a seatbelt, the airbag did notdeploy. Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris pronounced Boyte deadat the scene.

Boyd said the Acura rolled off the road and a third vehicle, a 2009Chevrolet Impala, collided with the Corolla’s rear end.

Kevin D. Farmer, 37, was the driver of the Acura. In the car withhim were Lennie M. Farmer, 39; Kandace Henderson, 15; Peyton C.Guess, 12; Weston D. Farmer, 5; and Walker M. Farmer, 5. Eachsustained moderate injuries. All airbags deployed except Peyton andWeston’s airbag; Walker and Weston were each in a boosterseat.

All others were wearing their seatbelts and transferred to King’sDaughter Medical Center, except Lennie who was transferred toUniversity of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. All those inthe Acura were of Sturgis, Ky., according to Boyd.

Shane M. Dupre, 23, of Houma, La., was driving the Impala. With himwere Meghan A. Boudreaux, 22, of Houma; Joshua E. Starck, 21, of StGermain, Wisc.; and Sarah E. Androschko, 21, of Houma. Boyd said noone in the Impala sustained any injuries; all were wearingseatbelts and Starck and Androschko’s airbags did not deploy.

Boyd said the road was blocked from roughly 3:02 until 6:30a.m.
