Brook’s Ballard named to South All-Star squad

Brookhaven offensive tackle Sam Ballard has been named to theSouth squad for the Bernard Blackwell All-Star Football Classic.The game will be played Dec. 18 at Greyhound Stadium in OceanSprings.

Ballard (6-2, 260) has been a 2-year starter for Coach TuckerPeavey’s Ole Brook Panthers. BHS was represented on last year’sSouth team by offensive tackle Derrick Henderson.

Other players from this area named to the South squad were widereceiver Milton Griffin of Franklin County, linebacker LeviticusCain and defensive back Gabriel Gray of Hazlehurst and quarterbackJavon Washington of Natchez.

South running backs are Jamal Hall of Picayune and Anthony Green ofVelma Jackson. The other quarterback is Colin Bray ofVancleave.

Head coach for the South squad is Teddy Dyess of Philadelphia.Assistant coaches are Brian Ford of Lumberton, Royce Foster ofPhiladelphia, Tate Hanna of Nanih Waiya, Marc Herrington ofMcLaurin, Chris Peterson of Mendenhall and Cedrick Walker of VelmaJackson.

The South’s scout coach is Todd Mangum of Ocean Springs.
