Bulldogs stomp Loyd Star

The Franklin County Lady Bulldogs remain undefeated, after threegames, as they out-manned and overwhelmed the Loyd Star LadyHornets to get a 67-39 victory Thursday night in Loyd Stargymnasium.

In the boys’ game, the Bulldogs rallied late in the third quarterto edge out the Hornets 49-37.

Loyd Star returns to action Tuesday as they travel across thecounty to face the Bogue Chitto Bobcats. Tip off begins with thegirls’ game at 6 p.m. followed by the boys.

Franklin County 67, Loyd Star 39

Vintrice Briggs pumped in 14 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs(3-0). Kierra Collins provided 12 points.

“We played a good first half,” said Franklin County coach CharlesMoore. “We still have plenty of room to improve, especially on ourshooting. Overall, I was very pleased with our defense.”

Tyrisha Patterson chipped in a game high 23 points and 11 reboundsto help lead the Lady Hornets (0-2). Erica Smith contributed 11points.

“We played well in spurts,” said Loyd Star coach Billy Vaughn. “Wejust could not match-up well with Franklin County. Overall, thiswas a good improvement from last Saturday.”

Franklin County 49, Loyd Star 37

The Green brothers helped lead the charge in rallying the Bulldogsto a comeback win. Anthony Green pumped in a game high 22 points.Antonio Green provided 11 points.

“Our effort was a lot better,” said FC coach Chris Jordan. “Wemanaged to out-rebound Loyd Star in the second half, which gave usextra opportunities to score.”

Terion Williams helped to lead the Hornets attack with 16 pointsand 9 rebounds. Holden Butler contributed 12 points and 4rebounds.

“Franklin County’s players hurt us in the middle,” said Loyd Starcoach Gene “Moochie” Britt. “They pounded the boards very well. Iam very proud of the effort we had in the first half. Overall, weare a young and inexperienced team in which we are steady improvingon in each game.”
