BHS kickers take crown

The Brookhaven boys captured the Loyd Star Soccer Tournamenttitle Saturday at the Hansel King Sportsplex. The Panthers edgedLoyd Star 2-1 in a shootout after beating Franklin County 2-1 andNatchez Cathedral 1-0 earlier in the day.
“Our players said they wanted to win this tournament and they tookcare of business,” said Ole Brook coach Kevin Bower. “I’m proud ofthem.”

J.B. Perkins scored for the Panthers in regulation. In theshootout, Josh Banks, Zach Cannon and Perkins scored.
Goalkeeper Happy Uppal made two saves for BHS.
BHS 2, Franklin Co. 1
Banks and Perkins scored for the Panthers as they beat theBulldogs.
BHS 1, Cathedral 0
Uppal posted the shutout and Perkins netted the only goal in thegame.
BHS Girls Split
The Lady Panthers lost 4-1 to Franklin County but defeatedCathedral 4-3.
Amy Hoover scored three goals in the win over Cathedral and HeatherRego added one..
Hoover scored the long goal against Franklin County.
Junior Varsity Results
The BHS girls shut out Franklin County 2-0 and tied Cathedral 0-0in junior varsity action Taylor Murray and Sallie Pendley scoredfor BHS against the Lady Bulldogs.
BHS goalie Katie Culpepper made 12 saves in each game.
The JV Panthers lost 3-0 to Loyd Star and tied Franklin County 1-1.Billy Tappa scored for the Panthers and goalie Noah Allen made 12saves.
