Warriors eliminate Bogue Chitto

LOUISVILLE – The Nanih Waiya Warriors defense returned twointerceptions, one by Dominique Carter and another by Hunter Swart,for touchdowns to eliminate the Bogue Chitto Bobcats 41-7 from theMHSSA State Football Class 1A Playoffs Friday night.
The Warriors (10-2), coached by Tate Hanna, move on to the secondround next Friday and will host the Mt. Olive Pirates. Kickoff is 7p.m.
“Nanih Waiya has a very good team,” said Bobcats coach GarethSartin. “They were ready to play.
“Turnovers really hurt us through out the game,” continued Sartin.”It was a close game in the first half. But we stubbed ourselves inthe foot by allowing Nanih Waiya to convert on fourth down to keeptheir drive alive and later score.”
The Bobcats (6-6) managed to score their only touchdown in thefourth quarter as sophomore Brandon Well caught a 40-yard pass fromfreshmen quarterback Brock Roberts. Garrett Wallace kicked theextra point.
Nanih Waiya received touchdowns from senior running back DevanteMcDaniel, who scored on a 6-yard run and threw a 2-yard pass toMontrel Easley. Junior running back Martin Johnson provided tworushing touchdowns with runs of 6 and 44 yards. Dominique Carterwent five-of-six on extra points for the Warriors.
For Bogue Chitto, Roberts completed 6 of 18 passes for 101 yardsand had 5 interceptions to lead Bogue Chitto’s offensive attack.Robert Bonds led the ground attack with 45 yards rushing on 10carries. Germie Martin was the leading receiver for BC with 5catches for 65 yards.
Defensively, Kevin Brothern led the Bobcats with 14 tackles. ColtonMcClendon provided 10 stops. Tevin Tobias contributed 8 tackles.Roberts intercepted a pass.
