Loyd Star’s first district soccer game was against FranklinCounty was a hard-fought game that ended in a 2-2 knot with goalsfrom Brandon Canny after double overtime. The game had to go to ashootout. Loyd Star made the first 3 out of 4 shots, while FranklinCounty missed 3 of 4, giving Loyd Star the win.

Shootout goals were made by Loyd Star ‘s Aaron Durr, Garrett Holdenand Chance Holden who also had 2 saves in the shoot out.

The defense was anchored by senior goalie Sawyer Hudson with 1penalty shot save and numerous blocks. The defensive line was ledby Brendyn Brister with 7 clearances and 6 take-aways; followed byDevlin Terry, Aaron Durr and Ryan Temple. The Hornet offenseconsists of Taylor Jones, Garrett Holden, Chance Holden, BrandonCanny, Cori Crowe and Crockett Ward with substitutions from ScottBarras, Seth Farmer, Bradley Archer and Nick King.

The Hornets’ next district game will be against Wesson.
