PICAYUNE – Junior center Tyrisha Patterson sacked 18 points andgrabbed 15 rebounds in leading the Loyd Star Lady Hornets to a55-36 Tuesday victory against Perry Central in the PicayuneChristmas Invitational. Patterson was joined in double digits byJordan Williams with 15 points and Erica Smith with 12.

Loyd Star resumes play Jan. 4, at Hinds AHS in Utica for regionaction, starting with a junior varsity game at 5 p.m. Loyd Star’sjunior high hosts Natchez Cathedral Monday, Jan. 3.

 The Lady Hornets (3-13) got 8 rebounds apiece from Erica Smith andNatalie Smith. Williams made 4 steals and 7 assists. Patterson had3 steals and Erica Smith had 6 assists.

“We had a good first half and I thought we did well coming backafter a disappointing loss,” said Loyd Star coach Billy Vaughn,referring to Monday’s 49-44 tournament loss to Lumberton. “It wasprobably our best overall game of the year.”

Vaughn watched his team roll to a 32-17 halftime lead over the LadyBulldogs.

Nine points by Joslyn Bolton led Perry Central in scoring.
