Peggy Joyce Howell, 76, of McComb, died Jan. 2, 2011, at herresidence, surrounded by her children.

Mrs. Howell was born Feb. 19, 1934, in Marion, Ark. She was thedaughter of the late Clyde Jackson and Fannie Mae Kirby Norton. Shewas a homemaker and member of the Assembly of God Church inMcComb.

After a short and courageous battle with brain cancer(glioblastoma), “Jesus called another angel home.” She will bemissed more than you will ever know, by all those who knew andloved her. Our hearts are broken but we know you are in a muchbetter place. You were the kind of person most people wish theycould be, so kind and giving. But your earthly journey is over now,you will start your heavenly journey, we know the heavens arerejoicing as they welcome you, but a sad day for all of us leftbehind.

She is preceded by her parents; her husband, Willie Rufus Howell; ason, Curtis Wayne Howell; stepchildren, Ellis Howell and WildaCoon; brother C.J. Norton; sister, Violet Oswald; half brothers,John Norton and Joe Paul Norton; and half sister, MaryJohnson.

You leave behind your children and their spouses, Vivian and DeweyMuirhead of West Jordan, Utah, Buster and Dorothy Howell of Summit,Patricia and Evelio Juarez of Decatur, Ala., Cindy and Jim Goodwinof McComb, Chonnan and Edward Johnson, Phillip Howell and KellyHowell; sisters, Francis and husband Lee Conley of Paris, Tenn.,Brenda and husband Ed Burton, Gail Colinger and John Norton; 15grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces andnephews; and last but not least, her dog (Gigit).

A very special thanks to Hospice Ministries for the wonderfulpeople who helped us in this difficult time and to Dean Lister alongtime family friend for being there when we needed him.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at 2 p.m. atMrs. Howell’s residence at 7036 Gibson Road in McComb.Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb is in charge ofarrangements.
