Ouida Cole

Miss Ouida Cole, 89, was born on Feb. 16, 1921, to WilliamCleveland and Rhoda Reeves Cole, of Bogue Chitto. She departed thislife peacefully at her home at 7:45 a.m. on Jan. 8, 2011.

Miss Cole received her teaching degree from Mississippi College andretired in 1982 after 40 years of dedicated service, teaching thestudents of Enterprise and of Lincoln County. She was a chartermember of the Chloe Holt Chapter of the Daughters of the AmericanRevolution and a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church,where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years.

Miss Cole was preceded in death by her parents; her brother,William “Bill” Hardy Cole (killed in World War II); and her twinbrother, Wilburn Carrick Cole (known to all as “Yi”). Miss BonnieLou Cole, a close cousin and friend, died in 2010.

She is survived by many extended Cole and Reeves cousins. Among herclosest survivors and “family” are Joe Burns, Pat Jackson, DarleneParkman and Helen Woods, who took extraordinary care of her duringher lengthy illness.

Services for Miss Cole were held on Monday, Jan. 10, at noon atPleasant Hill Baptist Church. Visitation was Monday from 9 a.m.until the time of the service. Burial was in the churchcemetery.
