Madison St. Joe hands Enterprise two setbacks

MADISON – The St. Joseph Bruins smashed the Enterprise YellowJackets 79-26 in Region 6-2A action Tuesday night.
In the girls’ game, the St. Joes Lady Bruins managed to hold offthe Enterprise Lady Jackets for a 60-49 victory.
The Jackets and Lady Jackets resumes action Friday as they travelto Utica to face another region foe in the Hinds AHS Bulldogs.Tipoff is at 6 p.m. with the girls’ game, followed by theboys.
St. Joe 79, Enterprise 26
Senior guard Nathan Foster provided 7 points to lead the Jackets(3-18, 1-3).
Nick Pernell pumped in a game-high 18 points to lead the Bruins(11-7, 3-0). St Joe had three players to score 10 points apiece:Jalen Davis, Charlie Waddingham and Nick Beasley.
St. Joe 60, Enterprise 49
Sophomore center Veonka Sanders knocked down 16 points and grabbed12 rebounds to lead the Lady Jackets (9-12, 3-1). Sophomore forwardCaroleah Brister chipped in with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Seniorguard Karla Beth Hux contributed 10 points.
“It is tough to play in Jackson,” said Enterprise coach JillNations. “I am very proud of the girls for playing hard and theyput forth a great effort to give us a chance to win thegame.”
Corbin Divinity had a game-high performance for the Lady Bruins(10-8, 2-1) with 26 points. Adrianna Cargin contributed 17points.
