BA boys take district crown

JACKSON – The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars fell short inclaiming the gold losing to Columbia 33-28 in the Junior HighTournament at Central Hinds Academy.
In boys’ action, the Cougars crushed the Bowling Green Bucs 59-23to capture the district title.
In semi-finals results, the Lady Cougars crushed the Bowling GreenLady Bucs 49-28.
The BA Cougars roared past the host Central Hinds for a 48-24win.
Columbia 33, BA 28
Destiny Allen pumped in a team-high double-double to lead the LadyCougars with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Madison Warren contributed7 points. The BA Lady Cougars finished second in the district witha 15-5 record to finish the season.
Meredith Bass knocked down a game-high 13 points to leadColumbia.
BA 59, B. Green 23
Landon Nettles was the leader for the Cougars with 15 points;Travis Thornton netted 11 points; Zac Smith added 10 points. TheCougars finished their season with a 15-3 record.
James Langua contributed 7 points to lead the Bucs.
BA 49, B. Green 28
In the semi-finals, Warren provided a game-high 24-pointperformance for the Lady Cougars. Allen chipped in with 10 pointsand collected 9 rebounds.
Ashley Foret pumped in a team-high 14 points to lead the LadyBucs.
BA 48, C. Hinds 24
Smith knocked down a team-high 18 points to lead the Cougars in thesemi-finals; Nettles contributed 10 points.
Jacob Hale was the top scorer for Central Hinds with 7 points.
