Unbeaten Bears avoid Sebastopol’s upset bid

SEBASTOPOL – The Sebastopol Lady Bobcats captured an upset overthe West Lincoln Lady Bears with a 35-31 win Friday night in Region7-1A basketball action.
In boys’ action, the Bears (23-0, 8-0) avoided a major upset toremain undefeated as they outscored the Bobcats 14-3 in the fourthquarter and held on for a 56-52 victory.
The Bears and Lady Bears return home to host the Bogue ChittoBobcats Tuesday night. Action is set to begin at 5 p.m. with juniorvarsity boys, followed by the varsity games.

Sophomore forward Katie Hester pumped in a game-high 12 points tolead the Lady Bears (14-9, 6-2).
“We were terrible on offense all night,” said West Lincoln coachLane Young. “Nobody could make a shot. We had opportunities at theend, but we did not play smart and run the plays correctly. I giveSebastopol credit; they wanted it more than us.”
Senior center Lexus Kennedy was the leader for the Lady Bobcatswith 9 points.

Senior guard Jay Case knocked down a team-high 20 points to leadthe Bears. Sophomore center Lucas Burris contributed adouble-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
“We missed a lot of shots and our defense was not where it needs tobe,” said Young. “Sebastopol is a tough place to play, but in thefourth quarter our defensive intensity turned up and we made somereally good plays the last two minutes.”
Senior forward James Patrick pumped in a game-high 27 points tolead the Bobcats.
