Lady Wolves suffer two loses in twinbill

WESSON – The reigning state champion Pearl River Wildcats swepta pair of South Division games from the Co-Lin Lady Wolves takingthe opener 9-3 and 10-2 in five innings in the nightcap.

The Lady Wolves (11-9, 1-3) resume action after spring break onMonday, March 21, when they host Hinds for a South Divisiondoubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.

Co-Lin took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning, but theLady Wildcats (10-4, 4-0) plated five runs in the fourth inning andadded three more in the fifth to break the game open.

The Lady Wolves stranded nine base runners in the game.

Heather Hester (4-2) picked up the win in relief allowing oneearned run on seven hits, striking out six and walking one. StarterLaura LeJune pitched two innings allowing one run on fivehits.

Bethany Pinkston (9-3) took the loss allowing nine earned runs on11 hits, striking out seven and walking one in seven innings ofwork.

The Lady Wolves were led at the plate by Tammy Alford with a doubleand two singles. Lakin Lockhart doubled and singled. AshleyMcCaffery added a double. Adding support with a single apiece wereKacey Smith, Sarah Anthony, Bobbie Cochran, Carrie Moak and EmilySmith.

Janessa Dedeaux, Britney Gary, Brandy Rester and E’Trarero Warrenhad a double and single apiece for the Lady Wildcats. HeatherHester added two singles, Alyssa Graeter doubled and Tiffany Reedsingled.

Pearl River 10, Co-Lin 2 (5 innings)

Pearl River took advantage of three Co-Lin errors in the firstinning as they took a 5-0 lead. The Lady Wolves committed sixerrors in the game.

Lady Wildcat’s pitcher Sheila Hall (5-2) allowed two runs (oneearned) on five hits, struck out five and walked one in fiveinnings.

Absorbing the loss was freshman Brooke Delaughter (2-4). SarahAnthony relieved Delaughter in the third inning.

Freshman Ashley Bounds led the Lady Wolves at the plate with twodoubles. Moak, Cochran and Haley Sones added a single apiece.

Pearl River pounded out 14 hits against Co-Lin. Leading the LadyWildcats were Graeter and Jordan Adams with a double and twosingles apiece. Samantha Spence had three singles and Rester hadtwo singles. Hester, Warren and Dedeaux added support with a singleapiece.
