Avants authors no-hitter for Bogue Chitto Bobcats

VICKSBURG – The Bogue Chitto Bobcats swept the St. AloysiusFlashes 10-0 Monday night in Region 7-1A baseball action. ZachAvants pitched a no-hitter for Bogue Chitto, collecting sixstrikeouts and allowing no walks.

“Zach Avants pitched a great game,” said Bogue Chitto coach JodyBritt. “He did a excellent job locating his pitches and kept St. Aloff balance. Our defense did a good job behind him.”

The Bobcats (14-6, 4-2) return home to host the Enterprise YellowJackets Thursday night and will have senior recognition prior tothe varsity game. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followedby the varsity at 7 p.m.

The Bobcats quickly went to business and shut out the Flashes intwo outings. They won 10-0 last Thursday.

Judson Gatlin adsorbed the loss for St. Al with seven strikeoutsand no walks.

Colton McClendon and Avants provided the offensive spark for theBobcats with three singles apiece. Brice Roberts smashed a double.Garrett Wallace, Hunter Ginn and Michael Martin contributed fuel tothe flames with two singles apiece. Hitting safely was BrockRoberts.
