BC lifters 3rd in state

JACKSON – The Bogue Chitto Bobcats settled for third place inSaturday’s Class 1A State Powerlifting Tournament. They finishedwith 28 points compared to first place Durant’s 38 points andCoffeeville’s 34.
“You never know what is going to happen,” said BC lifting coachChad Norton. “Durant was lucky when two lifters scratched.
“I’m proud of our guys,” said Norton. “Some of them did better thanexpected.”
Fourth place went to McAdams with 32 points. Ethel was fifth with17.
Bogue Chitto was directed by junior Colton McClendon who placedfirst in the 165-pound category with a total of 1,135 pounds.McClendon performed a squat with 430 pounds. He bench pressed 220and deadlifted 485.
Second place went to Shane “Buck” Lewis with a total of 1,290pounds in the 308 class. Lewis had a 475 squat, a 285 bench and astate record 530 deadlift.
Third place for the Bobcats was Devin McEwen (148) with a total of905. He squatted 340, benched 185 and deadlifted 380.
Tyler Saucier (165) also placed third with a 280 squat, a 185 benchand a 415 deadlift. He had a total of 880 pounds.
Robert Bonds (181) was third with a total of 980. He had a 340squat, a 170 bench and a 470 deadlift.
Also third was James Blackwell (220) with a 405 squat, 210 benchand a 475 deadlift for a total of 1,090.
Keith Arnold (275) was third with a 395 squat, a 240 bench and 470deadlift. His total was 1,105.
Placing fifth was Jermaine Blackwell (220) with 345 squat, a 185bench and a 475 deadlift. His total 1,005 pounds.
