Lady Cats trample Ole Brook

The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats overpowered the Brookhaven LadyPanthers 13-2 Monday night in softball action at Brookhaven.
The Lady Cats (14-7, 4-0) resume action today, hosting the NorthPike Lady Jaguars. Action begins with the junior varsity at 5 p.m.,followed by the varsity game at 6.
The Lady Panthers (12-11, 1-3) return to action Thursday, as theytravel to Enterprise to face the Lady Jackets. Junior varsitystarts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity at 6:30.
Bogue Chitto 13, Brookhaven 2
The Lady Cats got down to business by tuning up their offense forthe playoffs as the jumped on the Lady Panthers. They collected 15hits.
“We played a good game,” said Bogue Chitto coach Scott Leggett. “Wereally hit the ball well and Rheagan Welch pitched a goodgame.”
Welch was the winning pitcher for Bogue Chitto with sevenstrikeouts and two walks. She allowed four hits. Katherine Shelladsorbed the setback for Brookhaven with one strikeout and fourwalks.
Second baseman Bradi Davis produced the offensive spark for theLady Cats with a triple and two singles. Adrienne Wallace providedthe fueled with a double and two singles. Mattie Avants, JosiePorter and Kerri McGehee contributed two singles apiece. AlanaNettles hit safely.
Christen Benson provided the offensive firepower for the LadyPanthers with a triple. Shell belted a double. Hitting safely wereMadeline DeLaughter and Emily Freeman.
“We were not mentally prepared to play today,” said Ole Brook coachChad Walker. The Cats led 9-0 in the third inning.
In JV action, the Brookhaven Lady Panthers squeezed out a 2-1 winover Bogue Chitto. Brooke Hosick, back from suffering an injury toher pitching hand, showed some toughness by providing a strongpitching performance for the Lady Panthers, collecting fivestrikeouts and two walks.
Relief pitcher Alana Nettles suffered the setback for the Lady Catswith one strikeout and no walks. Christian Black (5K, 2BB) was thestarting pitcher for Bogue Chitto.
Katie Grace Culpepper was the offensive leader for the LadyPanthers with two singles. Hitting safely were Mandie Jackson andCheyenne Smith.
The Lady Cats got singles from Kaylie Crosby and Mallory Allen.
