Funeral services for Melanie Porter Smith,of Wesson, are 10 a.m. Thursday, June 30, at New Hope UnitedMethodist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

    Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at Riverwood FamilyFuneral Service.

    Mrs. Smith, 47, died June 27, 2011, at her mother’s residence. Shewas born on Sept. 10, 1963, in Mississippi.

    She was the owner of the Blue Heaven Salon and Spa and a member ofNew Hope United Methodist Church.

    Preceding her in death were her father, Malvin Porter; and herhusband, Brian Joseph Smith.

    Survivors include her mother, Magruda Calcote Spillers; herdaughters, Summer Prestridge and husband, Corey, of Wesson, andKrystal Conn, of Denham Springs, La.; her sisters, Marva LynnBritt, of Brookhaven; Mona Shedd, of Madison, and Melissa Porter,of Lake Geneva, Wis.; her two grandchildren, Lexi Grace Prestridgeand Adalyn Claire Prestridge.
