Funeral services for Warren Hewitt Smith,of Brookhaven, were 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, at RiverwoodFamily Funeral Service in Brookhaven with burial in RiverwoodMemorial Park. Riverwood is in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Smith, 87, died July 17, 2011, at King’s Daughter MedicalCenter in Brookhaven. He was born in August on 27 in 1923 to OscarSmith and Cammie Leona Dickey Smith.

    He was retired from the oil and gas exploration business, a Masonfor more than fifty years, and served in the South Pacific duringWorld War II. He and his wife traveled extensively and enjoyed thecompany of friends most of the time. He was a member of FirstBaptist Church of Brookhaven.

    Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Warren HewittSmith; his brothers, Clower (C.C.) Smith, Marley Smith, and BrandtSmith; and his sisters, Cora Smith and Lavada Smith.

    Survivors are his wife Reba Nell Cotten Smith; his son, Oscar AlanSmith and wife, Cindy, of Colombia; his daughter, Belinda C. SmithStamps and husband, David, of Brookhaven; his brother, Bill J.Smith of Brookhaven; his sister, Mary Cleo Smith Gunnell ofHammond, La.; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

    The family says a special thanks to our faithful caregivers,Ruthie, Martha, and Annie. Memorials or gifts can be made to theAmerican Heart Association or First Baptist Church BuildingFund.
