Troy Pitts, 90, died at his home in Wessonon Sunday, July 24, 2011, after a brief illness.

    He was the third son born to J.Lloyd and Addie Mae (Sandifer) Pittson March 8, 1921. He graduated from Heucks Retreat and attendedCopiah-Lincoln Junior College and Millsaps College before servingour country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. A natural salesman andmanager, he sold paint for many years before working in the oil andgas industry. Moving back to his beloved Mississippi in the early1970’s, he opened Timberlanes Campground in Wesson, which heoperated for many years. Mr. Pitts was preceded in death by hisparents; and his two brothers, L. Frank Pitts, and ShelbyPitts.

    Survivors include his three children, Sharon (Richard) Griffiths,of Sun Prarie, Wis., Brandon (Darlene) Pitts, of Richardson, Texas,and Todd (Janet)Pitts of Wesson; six grandchildren, Amiee (Kelly)Ford, of Redmond, Wash., Tara Derr, of Madison, Wis., Natasha(Luis) Aguilar, of Wylie, Texas, Leah (Matt) Moore, of Wylie,Texas, Amber Pitts and Ashley Pitts, both of Richardson, Texas; histhree great-grandsons, Gavin and Elijah Moore, and Noah Aguilar;and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

    Mr. Pitts will be remembered as a man who lived life on his ownterms, and a colorful character who left his mark on many lives.Those who loved him will miss him dearly.

    Visitation will be held at the Riverwood Family Funeral ServiceChapel in Brookhaven on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 from 5 p.m. to 9p.m. Funeral services will be held at Riverwood Family Funeral Homeon Thursday, July 28, 2011, at 11 a.m. Mr. Pitts will be buried atMission Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
