James Otis Orr Sr., 85, of McCall Creek,died Oct. 9, 2011 at his residence following a lengthy illness. Hewas born July 1, 1926 in Eupora. He was the son of Jim Sam andStanci Neal Orr. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church. Mr. Orrserved in the U.S. Army and retired as First Sergeant in 1972 at aceremony at Fort Polk, La. after 21 years of service to ourcountry. After retiring from the military, Mr. Orr operated KoppersLumber Company in Bude as a plant manager for nearly 10 years. Healso served as a member of the Mississippi National Guard inBrookhaven and was a member of the American Legion Post #40 inMeadville. He was a member of the John H. Quitman Masonic Lodge#244 in Auburn and of the Order of Eastern Star #87 in Auburn.

    Mr. Orr loved hunting and fishing and was very knowledgeable ofmany historic military events. He loved his family with greatpride.

    He is preceded in death by his parents; son, James Otis Orr Jr.;half brother, Douglas Berryhill; half sister, Catherine Marter; andbrother, Earnest Orr.

    He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Fay Davis Orr, of McCallCreek; son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Michelle Orr, of McCallCreek; daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Jackie Carraway, ofMcCall Creek; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Wanda Orr,of Vaiden; one granddaughter, Ashley Orr, of McCall Creek; onegrandson and his wife, Sam and Christi Orr, of McCall Creek; twostep-grandsons, Duke Carraway and Jeremy Carraway, of Smithdale;three great-grandsons, James Keith Orr and twins, Michael and MasonOrr, all of Brookhaven; and one great-granddaughter, Madeline Orr,of Brookhaven.

    Visitation is Tuesday at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McCombfrom 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until servicesat 10 a.m. with The Rev. Greg Pittman officiating. Burial withmilitary honors will be in Concord cemetery.

    Pallbearers will be Bobby Berryhill, George “Bubba” Berryhill,Leroy Spring, Keith Reeves, Carl Davis an Richard McKenzie.

    The family wishes to express appreciation to Mr. Orr’s devoted HomeHealth care individuals, Bonnie, Linda and Lisa; Hospice Ministriesnurses, Sherri, Amaryllis and Angela; and the doctors and medicalstaff of Franklin County Memorial Hospital and SouthwestMississippi Regional Medical Center, especially the CardiacIntensive Care medical staff.
