Funeral services for Lizzie Lea KeeneSartin, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, at FirstUnited Methodist Church in Brookhaven, with burial in RosehillCemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive is in charge ofarrangements.
Visitation is Sunday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home andMonday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the church.
Mrs. Sartin, 99, died Nov 17, 2011, at Brook Manor. She was born inLincoln County on June 23, 1912, to O. Frank Keene and AliceMcGuffie Keene Huhn.
She graduated from East Lincoln High School and Copiah-LincolnCommunity College with an AA Degree in Home Economics. She marriedW. Frank Sartin, of Lincoln County; to this union was born threechildren: Myrtis Virginia, Judith Adelle and Walter Lynwood”Buddy”. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked for StahlUrban Manufacturing Company, McComb Manufacturing Company, King’sDaughters Hospital and retired from Brook Manor Nursing Home asDirector of Food Services.
During her retirement years, the focus of her life was doing forothers. She baked and delivered to others countless cookies andother confections. Also shared with others were Upper Roomdevotional booklet, Sunday School books and the daily paper. Shereceived numerous awards for community service, including (morethan one year) the Outstanding Community Service Award from theLincoln County Homemakers Clubs and in 1999 she was awarded theExchange Club’s Golden Deeds Award for Brookhaven and LincolnCounty. Considered and designated a “spunky little lady,” she kepther focus in life straight ahead.
Preceding her in death were her father, when she was ten days old;mother; stepfather, Hampton Huhn; husband, W. Frank Sartin;sisters, Frankie Keene McGraw and Mae Keene Wilson; and brothers,Andy Lee Keene, Gene Keene and Charles Huhn.
Survivors are her children, Virginia Sartin Salmon, of Natchez,Judy Sartin Adams and husband, Gerald, of Brandon, and Buddy Sartinand wife, Connie, of Hamilton; five grandchildren, Amelia V. Salmonand husband, Ben Hillyer, of Natchez, Burl Salmon and partner,Robert Henkel, of Atlanta, Monica Adams, of Houston, Mark Adams andwife, Beth, of Mobile, and Micah (Moose) Adams and wife, Ashley, ofHouston; step-grandaughter, Tina Gregory Davis and husband, Johnny,of Hamilton; two great grandchildren, Gibson Thomas Salmon Hillyerand Lily Kate Adams; sister, Lena Mae Huhn Townsend Thames andhusband Paul, of Lincoln County; and numerous nieces andnephews.
