Bobcats sweep Enterprise

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Bobcats andLady Cats swept the Enterprise Yellow Jackets in varsity basketballaction Friday night in  R.L”Bob” Calhoun Gymnasium.

    In the girls’ action, the Lady Cats (5-2) roared back in the fourthquarters to swat the Lady Jackets 58-53.

    In the boys’ game, the Bobcats (2-5) captured their second win in arow in two days as they drilled Enterprise 48-37.

    Bogue Chitto returns to action Tuesday as they host the SalemWildcats for 3 games. The junior varsity boys tip off at 5 p.m. Thevarsity girls are set to begin at 6, followed by the boys.

    Enterprise will have a few days off to prepare for the LincolnCounty Round-Robin Tournament at West Lincoln, Thursday night. TheJackets and Lady Jackets will start the action against BogueChitto. Tipoff is 4 p.m. for the girls’ game, followed by the boysat 5:30.

Bogue Chitto 58, Enterprise 53

    The Lady Cats and Jackets battled back and forth throughout thefirst 3 quarters before Bogue Chitto managed to outscore Enterprise20-12 in the final quarter.

    Junior guard Adrienne Wallace pumped in a team-high 21 points andcollected 7 steals to lead the Lady Cats. Rheagan Welch contributed12 points and 5 rebounds. Earlneshia Dillon and Wallace were theleaders on the boards with 7 rebounds apiece. Dillon scored 7points and collected 6 steals.

    “The girls once again, gave it their all by hustling and not givingup,” said BC coach Christi Terrell. “We are still struggling on ouroutside shooting and getting into early foul trouble. Overall, Iwas very pleased with the girls effort in the fourth quarter asthey stepped up and made free throws down the stretch.”

    The Lady Jackets (5-5) were led offensively by center VeonkaSanders with 27 points and 15 rebounds. She also had 5 blockedshots and 3 assists.

    “My girls played really hard,” said Enterprise coach Jill Nations.”Overall, we need to stay out of foul trouble and limit ourturnovers.”

Bogue Chitto 48, Enterprise 37

    Action in the boys’ game was similar to the girls as both teamsbattled back-and-forth in a physical game. Bogue Chitto managed tocapture the lead in the second quarter and fought hard in thesecond half for the win.

    Sophomore forward Dennis Rogers poured in a game-high 19 points tolead the youthful Bobcats. Zachary Perkins provided 11 points.Jeremy Blackwell was the leader on the boards with 5 rebounds.

    “We played really well,” said BC coach Jimmie Butler. “I waspleased with the guys’ hard work and team effort. Overall, we needto protect the ball a lot better and cut out our turnovers.”

    Tanner Allen was the offensive leader for the Jackets (5-4) with 11points. Allen also collected 5 steals and 2 assists.

    “The guys battled hard and had a good defensive effort,” saidEnterprise coach John Knight. “We are a young team that needs tomature against good, talented athletes.”

    In junior high action, the Lady Cats cruised past the Lady Jackets35-15 as Zariah Matthews led the charge for BC with 15 points.

    Courtney Greer was the leading scorer for Enterprise with 7points.

    In the boys’ game, Enterprise edged the Bobcats 27-23 as BenMachost pumped in a game-high 12 points to led the Jackets.

    Bogue Chitto was led offensively by Brandon Blackwell with 8points.
