Funeral services for Jerry Louis WesbrooksSr., of Wesson, are 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at SylvarenaBaptist Church in Wesson, with burial in the church cemetery.Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

    Visitation is Monday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Mr. Wesbrooks, 76, died Jan. 7, 2012, at The University ofMississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was born in Morgan Cityon Aug. 18, 1935, to Herschel Carl Wesbrooks and Lessie V.Richardson Wesbrooks.

    He was a native of Leflore County and lived his adult life inJackson until moving to Wesson in 1988.

     A graduate of Central HighSchool in Jackson, he continued his education, receiving hismaster’s degree from the Ford Institute. He retired from theautomobile industry and worked more than 40 years in the Jacksonarea. Mr. Wesbrooks served his country in the U.S. Army during theKorean War and was a member of the American Legion Post #79 inWesson. He was an active member of Sylvarena Baptist Church,serving as a deacon and a member of Co-Lin Institute for Learningin Retirement. He was an avid golfer and a baseball and footballfan of his grandsons.

    Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Hershal JohnWesbrooks and Carl McLean Wesbrooks; and sister, JoyceWesbrooks.  

    Survivors are his wife, Joy Lowery Wesbrooks; sons, Jerry WesbrooksJr. and wife, Vicki, of Magee, Randy Dale Lowery and wife, Scottye,of Wesson, and Danny Michael Lowery and wife, Julie, of Wesson;daughter, Cynthia Wesbrooks, of Kilmichael; sister, Patsy Bassettand husband, Frankie, of Crystal Springs; grandchildren, StaceyHollis and husband, Dustin, of Honoula, Hawaii, Mac Lowery andwife, Kacie, of Wesson, April Magee and husband, Rob, of Magee,Brenton Wesbrooks and wife, Monica, of Magee, and Ky Lowery, ConnorLowery and Cade Lowery, all of Wesson; two great-grandchildren,Riley Wesbrooks and Robbie Lowery; and a host of extended familyand friends.

    Pallbearers will be Ky Lowery, Mac Lowery, Adam Gladden, HillryBritt, Van Britt, Russell Slay, Ronnie Walker, Connor Lowery andCade Lowery.

    Honorary pallbearers are Co-Lin golf buddies and Sylvarenadeacons.
