Close games in jr. high tournament

Action began in the Co-Lin Junior HighTournament Monday night with plenty of first round excitement atLoyd Star’s gym.

    In the girls’ games, the Wesson Lady Cobras edged the Lady YellowJackets of Enterprise 38-36. In the nightcap, the Bogue Chitto LadyCats squeezed past the West Lincoln Lady Bears in overtime27-26.

    In boys’ action, Enterprise clobbered Bogue Chitto 35-25. In thefinale, West Lincoln prevailed in overtime with a 40-39 victoryover Wesson.

    Tournament action continues Wednesday as No. 1 seed Loyd Starbattles Wesson in the girls’ game at 4 p.m. The No. 1 Hornetsentertain Enterprise in the second round at 5. Finals are Thursdaynight.

Wesson 38, Enterprise36

    Jashia Smith pumped in game-high 14 points to lead the Lady Cobras.Aurianna Vaughn contributed 9 points.

    The Lady Jackets had two players to reach double figures asCourtney Greer and Alyssa Barlow led with 12 points apiece.

Enterprise 35, Bogue Chitto25

    Ben Machost paced the Jackets with a team-high 9 points. DwaynePendleton  provided 7points.

    Henry Thomas was the leading scorer for the Bobcats with 10points.

Bo. Chitto 27, W. Lincoln 26,OT

    Zariah Matthews directed the Lady Cats with a game-high 15 points.Christian Black added 7 points.

    The Lady Bears were led in scoring by Alli Mullins with 9 points.Hannah Moak contributed 6 points.

W. Lincoln 40, Wesson 39,OT

    Ronnie Eubanks paced the Bears with 12 points as West Lincoln hadthree players in double figures. Zekenith Porter and NickWashington provided 10 points apiece.

    Anthony Jones was the leading scorer for the Cobras with agame-high 14 points. Eric Rhymes netted 8 points.
