Brookhaven Academy romps over Trinity

Brookhaven Academy’s basketball teams tookthree games of a 4-game set Friday night as the Cougars battledTrinity Episcopal in District 5-AA action in John R. GrayGymnasium. The Cougarscruised to a 64-40 varsity victory over the visiting Saints whilethe Lady Cougars whipped the Lady Saints 61-13.
The Cougars improved to 18-1 overall and 3-0 in district play. TheLady Cougars improved to 20-3 overall and 3-0 in the districtrace.
Brookhaven Academy returns to action Tuesday as they travel toBaker, La. to battle Central Private’s Rebels.
Brookhaven 64, Trinity40
Senior guard Brennan Miller scored a game-high 27 points, including6 three pointers, to lead Brookhaven Academy tovictory. Bubba Keenefollowed with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists insupport. Brock Smithpulled down 10 rebounds and dished out 10 assists as the Cougarstook a 25-19 halftime lead.
Jake Winston scored 9 points to lead Trinity. Tanner Cage followed with 7points.

Lady Cougars coach Ginger Duease was able to substitute early andoften. She watched her team race to a 40-5 halftime lead over theLady Saints.
Senior guard Terah Winborne scored a game-high 12 points, pulleddown 6 rebounds, recorded 8 steals and dished out 6 assists to leadBrookhaven. Junior centerCarey Crozier registered a double-double, scoring 10 points andpulling down 10 rebounds in support.
Abbey Ashmore scored 5 points to lead Trinity.
Junior High Action
In junior high boys action, Trinity whipped Brookhaven 53-34, led by Jaylen Fleming’s 20points. Tyler Stockstillscored 10 points in support.
Josh Wiggins scored 17 points to lead Brookhaven. Peyton Hood added 13 points insupport.
In junior high girlsaction, Becca Harvey and Mary Claire White each scored 11 points tolead Brookhaven to a 34-28 victory.
Ashleigh Williams scored 14 points to lead Trinity. Jordan Petty followed with 12points.
