Fannie Mae Sutton-Hardy

Funeral services for Fannie Mae Sutton-Hardy, of Monticello, were held on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at First Baptist Church of Monticello, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Larry Lenoir officiated. Laird Mortuary in Prentiss was in charge of arrangements.

     Mrs. Hardy, 74, died Feb. 22, 2012, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital. She was the sixth child of 10 children born to Peter D. and Amie Fobbs Sutton, of Monticello.

     At an early age, she joined First Baptist Church of Monticello and remained a member until her death. She was reared and educated in the Lawrence County area, prior to a brief stay in Frankfurt, Ky., where she received her GED. As an adult, Mrs. Hardy married the late Lee Hardy Jr. and worked for many years at Kellwood Manufacturing Company in Monticello.

     Preceding her in death were her parents and husband.

     Survivors are her son, Larry D. Sutton, of Monticello; sisters, Dr. Ella Anderson, of Alcorn State University, Katie Sutton and Earlene S. Carter, both of New Orleans; three grandchildren, Michael Knight, Tiwana Sutton and Nikia Coleman, all of Prentiss; nephews, Tommy Carter, of New Orleans, and Danuell Lucas Jr., of Natchez; and niece, Elaine Bell, of Brookhaven.
