Funeral services for Juanita Alviria Carr, of Monticello, were 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, at New Zion Baptist church in Lawrence County, with burial in the church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

     Mrs. Carr, 90, died June 9, 2012, at Lawrence County Nursing Center. She was born in Puerto Rico on Aug. 21, 1921, to Nemesio Alviria Montez and Liberta Colón.

     She was employed at Lawrence County Nursing Center as a nurse’s aide and was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.

     Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Wilford Paul Carr; and grandsons, Jonathan A. Jordan and Jason W. Jordan.

     Survivors are her son, Michael A. Carr and wife, Vicky; daughter, Nan C. Caves and husband, David; brothers, Hector Alviria Melendez and Israel Alviria Melendez; sisters, Neraida Alviria and Shirley Alviria; sisters-in-law, Pauline Carr Woodward and Sammie Carr Smith; four grandchildren, Jusin P. Jordan, Michael Carr, Crystal Carr Ward and Brandy Carr Wilson; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
