Funeral services for Charles Ray Lofton, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service, with burial in Rosehill Cemetery.
Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Lofton, 71, died July 16, 2012, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. He was born in Mississippi on July 20, 1940.
He was a welder/boilermaker and a member of Union Hall Baptist Church. Charles was an avid horse lover. He was one of the last true cowboys. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents; uncles; aunts; stepfather, Horatio B. Douglas; mother, Hilda Rae May Douglas; and father-in-law, Alfred E. Sykes.
Survivors are his wife of 30 years, Phyllis Greene Lofton; son, Charles E. “Shorty” Lofton and wife, Michelle, of Brookhaven; daughter, Della Elizabeth Lofton, of Chicago, and Amy Nicole Greene, of Atlanta; stepbrothers-in-law, Felix Sykes and wife, Gladys, and Danny Sykes and wife, Sheila, of Brookhaven; sister-in-law, Sheila Davis, of McComb; mother-in-law, Dorothy Sykes; five grandchildren, Garrett, Morgan, Cole, Lily Grace and Cash Lofton; and several uncles, aunts and cousins, as well as many good friends.
