Betty Jo Elkins Carter, 84, died Sept. 2, 2012, at McComb Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Manning, La. on Sept. 2, 1928, to Thomas Cade and Eula Smith Elkins.

     Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Herman T. Carter; brothers, Tommy Elkins, Earl Elkins and Sonny Elkins; and sister, Frances Bessonette.

     Survivors are her son, Herman Troy Carter; daughter, Betsy Carter; sisters, Lois Lightsey and Shirley McClintock; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
