Funeral services for Doris Faye Calhoun Sistrunk Holmes, of Jayess, were 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6, at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello, with burial in Divide Cemetery.
Visitation was Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Holmes, 85, died Sept. 4, 2012, at her home following a long illness. She was born on Nov. 29, 1926, to Earl and Mary Bardwell Calhoun.
She was an educator for 40 years and taught in several area schools, including Monticello High School, Brookhaven High School and Topeka-Tilton High School.
Preceding her in death were her parents; first husband, Jolly Sistrunk; second husband, Norman Holmes; infant son, Ronald Calhoun Sistrunk; three brothers, William L. Calhoun, Robert Lee Calhoun and Carroll Calhoun; and a sister, Ollie Earline Calhoun.
Survivors are her daughters, Sandra Sistrunk and husband, Wayne Wilkerson, of Starkville, and Sheri Sistrunk and husband, Phillip Turnage, of Jayess; brother, James R. Calhoun and wife, Maude, of Brookhaven; sister, Yzelle Cothern, of McComb; and dear friends and family, Lynn and Ellene Rivere, of Jayess.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to her many caregivers for their kind and loving care and support through the years.
