The Lady Cobras came out flat to start the first quarter as the Lady Green Wave secured a 7-4 lead.

In the second quarter, Wesson used their quick guards to apply pressure and disrupt Cathedral’s game plan. The Lady Cobras outscored the Lady Wave 18-6 to take a 22-13 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Wesson continued their defensive pressure to overwhelm Cathedral 33-11.

Junior guard Brandi McInnis was the offensive leader for the Lady Cobras with 10 points. Senior guard Azaria Smith sparked Wesson with 11 steals.

“We started off cold in the first quarter,” said Wesson coach Rusti Magee. “We missed 15 straight free throws before making one. Overall, I was pleased with my girls effort. They fought hard and created turnovers with our defensive pressure. Now, we must get ready for our district game Friday.”

Kennedy Gray, Wesley Calloway, and Caroline Smith directed the Lady Wave with 6 points apiece.

“We started the game off really good, but fell into a slump,” said NC coach Randy Smith. “Wesson did a great job defensively with their pressure to get some easy transition baskets.”
