FC splits with Chiefs

MEADVILLE – Tylertown’s 6-7 center, Xavion Dillon, pumped in a game-high 21 points as the Chiefs collected a 48-43 win over the Franklin County Bulldogs Friday night.

     In the girls’ game, FCHS won 54-30, behind 14 points from senior Latroya Hunt.

     The Bulldogs travel to West Lincoln Monday, with tipoff set for 6. Tylertown plays host to Brookhaven Tuesday at 5.

     The Chiefs (6-2) got 7 assists from senior guard Ladarious Slocum. Coached by Jeremy Harrell, Tylertown trailed the Bulldogs 28-25 at the half.

     Franklin County (1-7), coached by Chris Jordan got a team-high 20 points from Fred Nelson. Guard Bennie Covington added 15 points.

     In the girls’ contest, the Lady Bulldogs controlled the tempo of the game from the start by converting turnovers into points.

     Genieus Hunt added 10 points for FCHS, as the Lady Bulldogs built a 44-21 lead in the third quarter.

     Griffin added six assists and three steals to her game high 14 points.
