John Quincy Magee Sr. was born to the late J.C. Magee and Janie Lee Hill Magee on June 3, 1955.

John grew up in Brookhaven and professed Christ at an early age. He united with Beulah Chapel M. B. Church where he remained a member until death.

John Quincy attended Brookhaven High and Gulf Coast Community College where he received an Associate’s Degree in welding. John was employed at the age of 18 with Huntington Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula in 1974. This was his one and only job. John was dedicated to his job, receiving many honors of recognitions for outstanding services performed.  With hard work, he worked his way up to the position of Foreman. In 2011, his health forced him to retire from the job that he loved so much, having given Huntington Ingalls Shipyard 37 years of his life.
