Funeral services for Leroy Kelly, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, at Alexander Junior High School Auditorium, with burial in Cool Springs M.B. Church Cemetery in McCall Creek. R.E. Tyler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

     Visitation is Friday from noon until 7 p.m. at the funeral home, with the family present from 6 until 7.

     Mr. Kelly, 64, died Dec. 31, 2012, at his home. He was born in Franklin County.

     He graduated from Alcorn State University with a Bachelor of Science, Mississippi State University with a master’s degree and Iowa State with a specialist degree. Mr. Kelly was an agriculture teacher at Holly Bluff, Benton and Enterprise Schools. Later, he was a vocational counselor and high school principal at Port Gibson High School. He went on to become the Director of AJFC Head Start until his health failed.

     Mr. Kelly was a member of Cool Springs M.B. Church, McCall Creek, where he was a devoted deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and loyal alumni of Alcorn State University.

     Preceding him in death were his parents, Elnora Kelly Ford and stepfather, Robert Ford; brother, Robert Ford Jr.; and grandson, B.J. Davenport.

     Survivors are his wife, Bettie Jackson Kelly; father Isaiah Sanders, of Magee; son, Leroy Kelly III and wife, Lola, of Wiley, Texas; daughter, Sharon Byrd and husband, Carlos, of Brookhaven; brother, Percy Ford, of Brookhaven; sisters, Shirley Middleton and husband, Kenneth, of McCall Creek, Dorothy Lockhart and husband, Thomas, of Crystal Springs, and Debra Wells and husband, Homer, of McCall Creek; grandchildren, Denise Davenport, of Brookhaven, Leroy Kelly IV, Jalah and Markis Davis, of Wiley, Texas; mother-in-law, Louise Jackson, of Fayette; and a host of other relatives and friends.
